How to show an HTML code in a box

How to show an HTML code in a box without showing the results in a box? Whenever I enter the code in a scroll box, the code will show the image or it will hide some of the codes. I was so frustrated and was looking for the best code for days.
Finally, I found one that is closest to what I want. Here it is:

End it with a {/textarea}. Replace the { } with a < >.

I took me a while to find this code. I had to delete some characters before so the result of the html code would not show up in a box. That code above will show the html code so the readers can copy and paste the code into their site. The best example to use this is when you want readers to link you into their blog. They can just copy the code from that text box and then save it into their HTML/JAVA SCRIPT page element. Easy enough!
Here is mine:

Good luck on your HTML adventure!

Or if you don't want to use a textbox just replace < and > with < and > respectively
