Weather and Water Damage

Due to the inclement weather these past weeks in many parts of the country, our office has gotten several water damage claims. I am one of those lucky (cough*) representatives that processes those type of claims. I like to help people you know but sometimes some of them throws the frustration to us, the representative on the phone. I understand what they have to go through but the screaming gets me. Some callers though are very calm and positive and thats when I like my job.

I heard that Florida is the only state that did not get snow so good for them. I bet most people wished they were in Florida. I like Florida. It is probably one of the best states to live in in my opinion. Well, I should not say that. They get pretty good hurricanes, too. That would be more water damage for us at work. I guess water damage is anybody's nightmare.

Do you have water damage and you live in Naples, Fort Myers and the surrounding area? Check out Water Damage Naples, Water Damage Fort Myers, and Water Damage Cape Coral. The company guarantees their service and has been in service for years. Check it out.

Traveling...

Soon, the company my husband works for is going to fly him all over the place, including to Australia. There are limited carriers in to and out of Australia so finding cheap flights in and out of the country can be a problem. United Airlines and Qantas seemed to have the best prices a few years back, but now it seems even Singapore airlines may be making limited trips into Sydney. My husband has always wanted to see Australia, and we are all happy that he may soon get there. I guess the main drawback is that he might have to pay for the trip up front, and then be reimbursed. That is hard to do on a limited budget.

Thankfully they at least seem quick to reimburse him compared to the last company he worked for. If he is lucky, maybe he can use their travel service to book the international flights he will be taking. Unfortunately sometimes he travels on short notice. This makes it difficult to use a travel service... sometimes. We shall see how this latest adventure goes for him.

I wish I could travel with him especially to Australia but it sounds so impossible right now. I am just glad that he gets a chance to do that and explore interesting places.

The Customer Service Experience

I have been working in the claims customer service arena for four years. Yes, four years! I can't even believe it myself. I remember being warned by the manager four years ago that I would probably get some callers that are rude, hear a fatality accident, or listen to whatever situation that would require someone a pulse oximeter. I accepted the offer because I liked the challenge.

Although this job challenges my patience (a lot), I can still say that it has been really good to me. It has helped me grow emotionally and mentally. It taught me a lot of things in life because I get to hear real-life situations.

I work in an insurance field specifically in the auto department and I get a lot of phone calls from people who had just got into a motor vehicle accident. Imagine the adrenaline and the frustration of someone's voice from the other line. Imagine the claimant's anger and the mixed emotions. Yes...sometimes it gets too stressful but I am still thankful. It definitely sharpens my mind because I have to answer questions and resolve issues for the callers.

I was late...

I can't believe that I did not hear my wake-up alarm this morning. I even went to bed earlier than usual last night. When my mother-in-law knocked on my door, that was when I woke up. I got in 30 minutes late at work. I felt really awful.

I was working like a zombie today. I was feeling sluggish. I hate to feel like this but I guess things just caught up on me. I got back to dancing Zumba again to help keep my energy going. Sigh* I am just glad that I have my two little angels with me. They always have this smile in their faces when they see me.

When can I get a dog?

I want a dog but I don't know if it will be a good idea. My son is allergic to nuts and cats. We are not sure about dogs at this time. I have not taken him to the allergy clinic to get him checked for dog allergy. I should do that soon just to know for sure.

My co-worker showed me her pups she is giving away and there was this one little puppy I really like. The color was black and white and the hair was short and shiny.
It is too bad that I can't have it.

Stomach Ache

Aaahhhh...I hate it when I get a stomach ache. It is very annoying. It stops me from doing things and it really hurts. It started this morning. I was a little worried because I was at work and I really did't want to have a surprise "go to the bathroom" thing. I am just glad that it didn't happen. The bad news though is that I still have the stomach ache and I have to go to work early tomorrow. Plus, it is snowing still and is supposed to continue until tomorrow evening. Arrrgghhh...

Key Logger

What is a Key logger? I have learned something today. If you don't know what that is then read on.

When my husband was employed, he worked for a company that made highly sensitive weather hardened radio systems. Aside from the receivers all components to the systems were Consumer Off the Shelf (COtS) technologies. The components were bought from all over the world.

When they were pricing out vendors for computers there were “countries on a do not purchase from” list. These countries were known to trade heavily with and use components from China pretty much like the United States. However these countries did not scrutinize the components as heavily as companies that buy for the United States have to. China had been known to embed key loggers in firmware of hard drives or computers that these companies then in turn sold to the United States.

Key loggers on computers can be a good thing. It allows employers to know who is doing what on company systems and they can be a valuable asset to companies. However, imagine the harm that could be done if you did not know the key logger was there. Imagine a scenario where your company plugs a computer into the internet and a program is initiated that activates this key logger. The first thing that it does is notify the Chinese government that it is on line.

All of a sudden the Chinese government has access to every keystroke made on the computer. Every password, every username; everything. Imagine the nightmare that this scenario could cause your company; imagine if your company was crucial to national security.

That is the scenario my husband’s ex-employer faced when pricing and searching for a COtS vendor of a computer. Imagine the nightmare that would have been cause if a key logger made its way onto that computer. I bet even that would have been my husband’s fault (sad).

Driving Back Home

I got out of the building at work and was so creeped out while walking to my car. The parking lot was very dark. It has no light pole at all. My husband told me to park near the entrance door next time so the security guard can walk me to my car after work. It is actually a good idea. I think I am going to do that starting tomorrow. It is better to be safe than encounter some perverts. Creepy.

I drove home without any problem. I thought it would be snowing but I did not see any snow on the road. The road was dry. I was glad.

Women's Shoes and Boots

What do you think of the boot in the picture? I can't help but admire the design. It looks warm and cozy. I found it when I searched for boots online for the winter. It is under stuart weitzman shoes brand. This designer has got a large selection of boots and shoes for women.

I have been really wanting to buy a pair of boots for this coming winter season. I did not get a chance to buy a pair last year because I just did not care. I used my regular shoes to go to work and I slipped a lot on the snowy pavement. Plus, my feet would get really cold and my toes would sometimes get numb. I don't know why I did not think about getting boots. I don't care if they're hunter boots or whatever boots as long as they'll protect my feet from the cold snow and avoid slipping a lot.

If you have a hard time choosing the right shoe or boots for yourself, visit this women's shoe blog for some guidance about shoes.

Lockers, Anyone?

I wish there was a Locker Room at work. It would be nice to have a space for my coat, some extra beauty kits and some other girly stuff. I know it is really not that important but it would be nice if they had one. My previous employer had a locker room and it was great to have my own....yes my own SPACE.

We had a meeting one day and our boss was talking about maybe transferring into a bigger and more sophisticated building with a nice gym. They may have Wood Lockers as well for the employees. I hope the boss is going to think about doing that. It will help lessen the stress if the working environment is soothing.

Well, I guess I have to go for now. I need to rest my head. I have been sick for a week. I got the cold and cough plus the muscle aches. I hate this feeling. Enough talking about Lockers. Good night everyone.
