Wine Opener

My husband and I like to drink wine when we are together. Sadly the last time he was in town, we only had one glass together. Maybe two...but it was not nearly enough. I know his drink of choice is beer, but he does know how to pick a wine (Thank goodness because I am not good at it). Unfortunately we do not have a nice wine opener like these rogar wine openers. You see, my husband is into function over form. If it works it does not matter what it looks like. I guess that is something that I like about him, but it can sometimes be annoying.

He does not realize that as a woman, I need something with form, not just function. I would love to get something like this champion wine opener. This is something to be proud of, and it looks like you put some thought into entertaining when you bring guests over. I also like the estate wine opener. It just looks so formal.

Well at this time though, I'd rather drink wine than think about wine openers. Having wine means having my husband with me (because I only drink wine with him). I miss you my husband and I can't wait to drink wine with you again!

Things To Remember

Is it too early for me to search for birthday cards for mom? My mother-in-law and my own mother's birthdays are in April. I want to be able to have my cards ready especially for my mother in the Philippines because it takes forever for the mail to get there (living the snail mail deal).

I went to Greeting Card Universe and they've got some cute cards there. I loved browsing their site because it is very clean and they have thousands of cards to choose from for any occasion. They also have interesting birthday cards for dad there. It is definitely a site to remember.

Okay I really need to make sure I buy the cards so I am going to make myself a note now.

Being a Christian

One of the things I really like about being a Christian is finding an active and vibrant community that has at its heart service and ministry. Christian ministry is what the world needs more than ever right now. The world is growing even more materialistic and even some Christians have forgotten that we are to be known by our love. Being a Christian myself, I believe nothing can be more important than ministering to the “least of these”, whether that be the poor, the unborn or those poor unfortunate souls who never have had the joy of experiencing the love of Christ working in their lives. I can think of nothing more horrible than a life without the love of Christ and his Church working in it.

I believe that Christ has a special place in His heart for those who take care of children in need. Though no fault of their own, these children are born into a world where they are hungry and undereducated. Oftentimes in my home country of the Philippines, they are left to fend for themselves at a very young age, begging or turning to things like prostitution just to meet their daily needs. Their families live in garbage dumps where they are literally crushed in garbage landslides. I truly think it is hard for someone from the West to comprehend the poverty in the developing world until they experience it first hand. I know seeing it first hand had an incredible impact on my husband; He has since then had a new found compassion for the poor(although he still needs to work at it a lot). Hopefully some of you who read this will take the time to become the hands of Christ reaching out to these poor and disadvantaged children, children who without you may never know the love of Christ.

Kids Wrestling

My kids were wrestling on the floor. My daughter is only 18 months old and she was fighting against a four year old boy. (Lol) She is such a toughie. My son was having a hard time being gentle with her but they were having a great time together. I love it when they are happy.

After a while of playing, my son kicked my daughter's face accidentally (Oh-uh). Nobody cried but we stopped their fight. It was time for bed anyway.

Son's Birthday

It is my son's birthday today. We did not plan anything big at all. I greeted him "Happy Birthday" this morning and he just kind of shrugged it off. He already had a little celebration at school and at his grandma's house so he thinks his birthday celebration is done. He already picked out his toys at the store. He picked big toy trucks and a car (fire truck, tow truck and a police cruiser). He really liked them.

My husband and I are planning to buy him some treats tonight. He loves ice cream and smoothies so that's what we will surprise him with. Oh, I love my son. He is growing so fast.

Some People Have Nothing To Say

I got a comment in one of my blogs stating that I should delete one of the posts (I talked about the joy of being a mother in that post.). Really? Who are you to tell me what to write and what to feel. I love being a mother and I love my kids. Uurrrgghhh...I am sorry if you are a loser but that post will remain.

Lucky and Thankful

I thank God for helping me pushed the baby on May 14th, 2009. This is my second baby and my second vaginal delivery.

My first delivery was very hard because I chose to not get an epidural. I had two challenges: pain; and pushing hard. Thankfully, I did not forget my Lamaze lessons.

My second delivery was great compared to the first one. I decided to receive an epidural. The positive experiences were: snoring while having contractions which means no pain at all; and I was able to focus on pushing the baby out which only took 20 minutes. The negative experiences were: dizziness and vomiting maybe because of the anesthesia; and not being able to walk for 5 hours after the delivery.

Ahhhhhh!!! What can I say? I won't change this for the world. What a great feeling after seeing her for the first time.

How sad!

I heard today that Burmese people are getting spoiled goods from the aid provided. Is it because United States and others were giving spoiled or expired products? Or is it because these corrupt and brutal military leaders are getting the good stuff and giving the bad ones to the poor citizens?

I can not believe how the Military Junta can live with this kind of conscience. How do you live with greed and without mercy? Millions of people in their country are suffering and hungry but still, they even take the least help that the citizens can get. Where are their hearts?

Now, I feel so happy and fortunate that I have freedom unlike the citizens of Burma who are being held like puppets.

Should we give corrupt military junta more aid? I mean, the citizens of Burma are not getting them anyway.

I am just sad. I wish I could help them.

What Kind Of A Mother Are You?

I am not pointing fingers at anybody and I am not angry.

A lot of people said that there are types of mothers. Is it right? Let me give you some ideas as to what I am talking about.

Types of Mothers according to Dr. Helen Pensanti:

1. The Phantom Mom - she may be controlling, perfectionist or reactive. I think when mothers say "you are not good enough" type of statement is under this one.

2. The China Doll Mom - she is afraid of feelings, avoids strong or negative emotions, may react to anger and shame the child. Not a good thing mom.

3. The Controlling Mom - I think it is a subsidiary of being a phantom mom. She does not want a child to exhibit individuality and there will be no independence to child.

4. The Trophy Mom - I think this is another sub of phantom mom. She wants her child to be perfect, special, afraid of imperfection exposure, gets angry to a child who brings home problems.

5. THE AMERICAN EXPRESS MOM - I am not sure why it is called American Express like the credit card. This is like giving a child the idea that the child can not survive without her or vice versa. "I am your only source of love and truth" type of stuff.

Types of Mothers according to Dr. Poulter.

1. The Perfectionist Mother

2. The Unpredictable Mother

3. The "Me First" Mother

4. The "Best Friend" Mother

5. The Complete Mother - my favorite. She provides guidance and compassion to her child.

Types of Mothers according to Dr. Me (Disclaimer: I am not a doctor- these are the types of mothers according to my own experience).

1. The Affectionate Mom - who kisses, hugs, embraces you wherever or whenever.

2. The Big Mouth Mom - who says a lot of STOP!!!, NO!!!, COME HERE!!!, DO IT!!!, SHUT UP!!!...etc. She says the words very loud thinking that her child will be better. Actually, it does not make your child a better child. NO is my favorite word to say to my son and I should stop myself.

3. The Quite Mom - who does not do anything except wash your clothes, clean your room, cook for you...etc. She is not a talker. She does not get mad at you that often but when she gets mad, it is a big explosion.

4. The Hip Mom - she talks and dresses like her teen daughter. She wears sexy clothes, make up, nice tattoo, and crazy hair. She can be your bestfriend.

5. The NO TIME Mom - you do not see her. She is busy on her own world.

6. The Abusive Mom - It can be physical, verbal or mental. Mental abuse I think is when you force your child to learn something that your child is not interested in such as music, dancing or sports.

7. The "Freedom" Mom - Her child can do whatever. She does not care if her kid watches TV the whole day, eat junk foods, wear his pants low showing the boxers or wear her top so low showing their big boobs, or if she/he comes home late with their peers (unknown where they went). No disciplinary action.

8. The "Everything Perfect" Mom - Perfectionist alright!

9. "My Kind of Mom" - These are my mom and my mother-in-law. They are my kind of moms. Loving, easy to be with, like a friend, a listener, and God-fearing. We have different personalities so you kind of mom might be different than mine.

10. Mr. Mom - He is your dad but he does what moms do.

You and your mother's relationship makes you who you are right now. Do you agree with that? I think that they have something to do with your personalities and how you handle adult relationships.

This Mother's Day, whatever type of mother you have, give her some beautiful flowers to show your love. There is a one stop flower shop online available which is the 1800Flowers.com for all your needs. They have a contest going on right now where there are over $30,000 in prizes. Vote for your favorite mom in "one" of the categories.

I wish I registered my kind of moms but it is already closed for registrations. Anyway, I voted for Marlene K. from Lorain, OH. The picture captured my eyes. She appears to be a very talented mom.

What women really means when they say something

I had to call my husband to tell him I was sorry, yesterday. I said something that I should not have and it probably hurt my husband's feelings a little bit.

I guess women say something to make men feel confused. LOL! Take a look at these examples:

1. I JUST DON'T WANT A BOYFRIEND NOW. = I just don't want you as a boyfriend now.
2. Sure go ahead = I don't want you to
3. The kitchen is so inconvenient. = I want a new house.
4. Am I a little fat? = Tell me I'm beautiful.
5. Was that the baby? = Why don't you get out of bed and walk him until he goes to sleep.

Can you think of something that you said which made your spouse confused?

What Is Your Personality Type?

Are you outgoing? a good cook? or are you an *ssh*le. Just kidding.

I had fun taking this personaly test. It amazes me how they know who I am by just answering to their simple questions. Below is the result of my test.

You Are An ISFJ

The Nurturer

*You have a strong need to belong, and you very loyal.
*A good listener, you excel at helping others in practical ways.
*In your spare time, you enjoy engaging your senses through art, cooking, and music.
*You find it easy to be devoted to one person, who you do special things for.
*In love, you express your emotions through actions.
*Taking care of someone is how you love them. And you do it well!
*At work, you do well in a structured environment. You complete tasks well and on time.
*You would make a good interior designer, chef, or child psychologist.
*How you see yourself: Competent, dependable, and detail oriented
*When other people don't get you, they see you as: Boring, dominant, and stuck in a rut

I am not sure about cooking because I make a lot of salty and overcooked food. The comments especially the last one made me confused. How do this test know that? That is really me. I feel like people get bored when they are with me because I am just a serious butt.

How do you define LOVE?

I like this: "Love can move mountains".

Is love a thing? or is it a verb?

Why do some people ask how they can find love? Is love something that you can pick up like a diamond on the floor? Or is it something that you do or give?

Love is something that you do without any conditions. Loving is giving your heart to someone that you love without expecting something in return.

How do you define love?
