How did I get Pop-ups in my blog?

That is right! He is ready to attack for his mom.

Somebody had hacked my blog. I checked my blog today and a pop-up window opened for advertisers. I did not add any pop-ups at all. I was so frustrated finding the code in my template that says popup. There was none. I googled about deleting pop-ups in my blog and there is no information to help me.

I ran these softwares to delete the parasite softwares or viruses in my computer.

*Norton AntiVirus
*Spybot's 'Search and Destroy
*Lavasoft's 'Ad-Aware'

Those softwares found some 'data miners' and I deleted all of them. I checked my blog and the pop-up was still there. I was so upset. I thought I would have to delete this blog.

After a while, I found an article from Blogger Help about pop-ups. This statement "These add-ons can trigger pop-up advertisements, redirect you to unwanted sites, modify your browser, or even alter the appearance of a Blog*Spot blog. " gave me an idea. I checked all of my page elements with HTML/Java Script on them one by one looking for the unwanted URLs. And, I found it. The hacker used my Feedjit script. The evil modified the code and I could tell right away.

Oh! It would have been horrible.

that's good that you found out. i did not put any feedjit in my blog my readers don't need it anyway and besides, it's an additional javascript that can slow down my blog.

thanks for sharing, that helps me to be aware now.

This seems to be a common problem today; I've seen tons of Blogger blogs with PayPopUp on them this morning and one site that has been totally hacked and redirected. I hope they get this scumbag.

FYI, the popup is back and you are not the only one that this has happened to. I've seen tons of Blogger blogs this AM that have PayPopUp showing up. Now that I think of it, they are all ones that are using custom HTML. Someone elses blog is so bad, it redirects to a different site altogether.

Good luck in catching this scum.

Oh wow. That's not even cool.

I know when I came to your site today, I got a few pop ups and I was a little taken aback. I hope you fix it soon. :)

These guys are getting cleverer by the day. It seems as if a blogger has to have eyes in the back of their heads these days.

This happened to me. I started over (new clean template) and got rid of every page widget. The pop ups then stopped. When I started adding old code - there it was again ... pop up adds. One time links were even installed in my text!! Can you believe that??
This is not one person working one blog at a time. It's a huge problem.
I think, don't quote me on this, but whatever is happening is being pulled in from certain blogger page code - esp JAVA.
Good luck, my day sucked as well with this problem. I linked some other posts similar at my page, including yours. I found you from a blog search "pop up ads"

Hi Jo,

I'm the founder & CEO of Feedjit. We've noticed that your community of friends seems to be having a problem with popups and you suspect Feedjit.

We have done a security audit on our servers and haven't found anything out of place. We have also looked at your data files for howto-livelovelife.blogspot.com and there is no malicious javascript in your traffic feed widget. I would be happy to send you a copy of this data for you to examine.

So we don't think it was Feedjit that caused this problem but as always we will continue to monitor our servers in case we do see any strange activity.

I hope the popups don't reappear.

Best of luck.
