On NMEDA

This is a Sponsored Post written by me on behalf of NMEDA. All opinions are 100% mine.

I did not know that their are special vehicles for disabled people until I started working in an insurance company. I work in the auto department. One day, there was one claim about a damaged vehicle with special equipment in it. The claimant was a disabled lady and she had this type of vehicle. I was really amazed with how she described how an equipment in her vehicle worked to help her get in the vehicle and get out. I thought that person who invented it must be really intelligent.

If you are looking for a special vehicle for your special loved one, just go to nmeda.org and look for a dealer in your local area.

NMEDA or National Mobility Equipment Dealers Association is a non-profit trade association that promotes safe driving and equipment for disabled people. NMEDA dealers/members are the people who sell handicap vans and modified vehicles and they are required to follow the safety standards of the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration.

NMEDA has dealers and Quality Assurance Program (QAP) dealers. QAP dealers are being held to extremely high standards in order to meet the highest customer satisfaction consistently. In my opinion if you buy from a QAP dealer, the product and services will be better.

Avoid buying adapted wheelchair vehicles over the Internet or through a catalog to avoid regrets. Get a personalized “in-person” evaluation with a dealer to get the best fit for you or your loved one's needs. With an NMEDA qualified dealer who could assist, an elderly or disabled can get back to the road with independence, and a caregiver will have an easier job.

I remember when my parents were taking care of my late grandmother. I was probably 5-7 years old at that time. They were having a hard time because my grandma could not walk anymore. They had to lift her to wherever she needed to go in the house. It was hard especially to get her in a vehicle. If this technology was available, it would have been an easy task.

So, if you are looking for this kind of vehicle, go ahead and visit nmeda.org. Click Locate a Dealer Menu and enter your zip code to find a qualified dealer near you. It is very easy.
